Coveralls vs. Bibs

Coveralls vs. Bibs:

Pros, Cons and More

At RefrigiWear, we’re proud to know that our customers stare down the harshest, coldest conditions every day and don’t think twice about it. That’s because they know they are protected by durable, insulated technology that’s designed specifically to survive the wrath of Mother Nature. When you need an all-in-one solution to keep you warm and keep you going, our coveralls and bib overalls can’t be beat.

Coveralls and bib overalls are two of RefrigiWear’s most iconic products. Our customers love them because of their warmth, toughness and comfort. Each style has its own pros, cons and special considerations, so the style you need depends on what you’re doing.

Coveralls: Pros and Cons

Our coveralls are some of the best-known products RefrigiWear has ever made, and with over 60 years to perfect our performance engineering, they’re some of the best gear around for fighting the cold. But no one solution is right for everybody, so let’s take a look at the facts.

Coveralls might be the best choice for you if:

  • You need the absolute maximum warmth RefrigiWear can give you. Our Iron-Tuff coveralls can keep you warm all the way down to -50ºF.
  • You need an all-in-one outfit for your whole body.
  • You want the highest level of wind protection we’ve got, which is even better if you use our Iron-Tuff Snap-On Hoods.
  • You want front pockets, chest pockets, sleeve pockets—basically, you love pockets and want a lot of them.

However, you might want to consider other options if:

  • You need a lot of airflow around your upper torso to be comfortable.
  • You need a garment that’s more adjustable and gives you more options on how to wear it.

Bib Overalls: Pros and Cons

Bib overalls are some of our most versatile and durable garments, and we’ve got a lot of models in stock.

Our bib overalls are probably a good choice for you if:

  • You need a bigger range of upper body motion than coveralls can give you.
  • You want more airflow around your torso.
  • You already have an insulated coat that you like and you need a bottom layer.
  • You need an outfit that’s highly adjustable to the shape of your body.

They may not be the right choice for you if:

  • You’re working in extreme cold and need total self-contained warmth.
  • You carry lots of small gear with you and need many extra pockets to store them.
  • You need protection with a total wind seal in a one-piece garment.
